Abstract
Juvenile xanthogranuloma (JXG) is a benign, self-healing disorder that usually occurs in infants and children. Histologically, classic lesions are characterized by diffuse proliferations of foamy histiocytes, many of which may be multinucleated(Touton cells), admixed with lymphocytes and eosinophils. There have been a few reports about JXG in Korea. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinico-pathologic characteristics of JXG. A clinical and histopathological analysis was done retrospectively with patients diagnosed as JXG from the Department of Dermatology of Chungnam National University Hospital during the last 10 years(1991-2000). The male-female ratio of the patients with juvenile xanthogranuloma was 1.2:1. Most of the lesions occurs in infants and children. The face was the most preferred site. The papular form was more common than the nodular form. Histopathologically, mature lesion was most frequent. Most of the cutaneous lesion didn¡¯t recur after excision or disappeared spontaneously.
